The animal protein molecules are much larger and more complex and therefore contain more and different amino acids than vegetable protein. In general, biological value is greater than those of plant origin. In return they are harder to digest, since there have more amino acids to break down.
Properly combining vegetable proteins (legumes with cereals and milk products and cereals) can obtain a balanced set of amino acids. For example, rice protein contain all essential amino acids, but are low in lysine. If combined with lentils or chickpeas, rich in lysine, the biological quality and resulting protein intake is greater than that of most animal products.
Animal protein from meat, poultry or fish will also eat all the waste of cell metabolism present in these tissues (ammonia, uric acid, etc.). These compounds act as poisons in our bodies. The metabolism of plants is different and these derivatives are not present. In any case, it is always better to choose eggs and milk rather than meat, fish and birds. Animal protein is often accompanied by animal fats, mostly saturated fat. It has been shown that a high intake of saturated fatty acids increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
It is generally recommended that a third of the proteins we eat are of animal origin, but it is perfectly possible to be well fed by only vegetable protein. That said, The problem with vegetarian diets in the West tends to be more in the deficit of certain vitamins such as B12, or minerals, like iron. It is always best to have a consultation with a good dietician before making a choice on your dietary needs.

We live in an age of mass consumerism. Everywhere you go you are greeted with lie after lie about the health benefits of certain products. I am now going to tell you some facts about certain so-called vitamins that will clear up some of the lies that certain health companies have been spreading in order to sell their supplements and health products.
– Vitamin B15, or pangamic acid, a substance present in most seeds, but irrelevant to our body. Although it is totally useless, it has been found to contain lots of carcinogens. The FDA (food control agency in the U.S.) banned its sale in the U.S.
– Vitamin B17 or amygdalin, is not a vitamin, nor have any metabolic role in humans, but is very toxic as it can create cyanide in the stomach. There have been several deaths due to ingestion of Vitamin B17. When the company behind the craze with Vitamin B17 starting losing business, they then claimed it had the potential to cure cancer. Needless to say, some of them are now serving time in prison and the substance has been banned worldwide.
– Inositol. This substance is a vitamin for some insects and bacteria. Mice also need it or else they lose their fur. However, humans can produce all we need of it. Companies were trying to sell it as a cure for baldness, until everyone realized that mice and men are not the same thing.
– PABA, initials of para-amino benzoic acid. It is essential for some bacteria, but completely unnecessary for humans.
– Orotic acid. It is a metabolic intermediate that can be synthesized in the quantities we need.
– Carnitine. It is not a vitamin. Our body can manufacture all it needs.
– Taurine. This substance is essential for cats, and maybe for newborns, because human milk contains more than other species. For this reason it is added to milk for infant feeding. Adults have no need for it.
